    My PC has been installing the same windows xp security update for several weeks or more. It's been installed a minimum of five time within the past three weeks. Does my OS have a, a, ,,,, god I can't say it a, a, a, a Virus? If so Norton has not detected it, but sumthins just not right.
    Big Government is Big Business.. just without a product and at twice the price... after all if the opposite of pro is con then wouldn’t the opposite of progress be congress?

    Well sure but thats like saying don't drive your car if your breaks don't work when the question is "whats wrong with my breaks".

    the reason it keeps installing, is because you have autoupdate turned on.

    Well yea, guess you may be right. Autoupdate is broken

    Yeah, but why would it keep getting the SAME update and installing it? corrupted installer? somehow being uninstalled?

    if u do turn of auto update, remember to visit ms update site and update manually, from time to time

    because the web site has determined your computer needs that update. It keeps finding it uninstalled so auto update downloads and installs it over again. Turning off auto-update will fix it.

    I've never directly uninstalled the update however I think I may have done a system restore to a point prior to the update after heving performed the update. Maybe thats how the mess got started.

    when you did a system restore, it went back to before that update. So auto update is going to download and install, because micromonkey has determined you need that update.
