hi im a newbie that has created two files from an avi movie. i did so with tmgenc.

    the resulting files are:

mpeg and wave for video and sound.

I used the facility called es video and audio in tmpegenc.

i then thought that all i had to do was burn to dvd with nero under the 'burn video' category but it came up all kind of warnings saying that it wasn't compliant.. i ignored this and the resulting dvd is unplayable... (message says that its an unsupported file format..)

any suggestions since the quality of the tmpeg mpeg file is the best that ive achieved so far! - i simply need to successfuly burn to a dvd..

    any help sincerely appreciated

    thanks in advance

The answers can be found in the guides here. It is for your own good if you read them instead of me telling you that DVD video structure is not simply putting the mpg in Video_TS and wav in Audio_TS.

Have a look at TMPGenc DVD Author in the tools section.

The four stages of creating a DVD are

    Capture>Encode>Author>Burn

    hi
    thanks guys

I've taken the hint and downloaded the trial version the tmpg's dvd author program.

I think im nearly there but for the fact that when i add the audio file (which tmpg original extracted from the avi file as as wav file) - it rejected the format saying that it would only accept one of a number formats such as mpeg1 or audio layer.2 etc etc

I've looked but i can't find a way of coverting my avi file into one of the formats.. any suggestions?

    thanks

When you converted your original file with TMPGenc you should have 2 files one should be a .m2v and one a .wav .
When you Use TMPGenc DVD Author and select open file and select the .m2v , the audio wil be draged in automatically.
If it doesn't work like that you may have done something wrong in the encoding.

    hi
    yeah thanks for that

it asked for two files - one video and one audio
you're right - when i selected the first - it never automatically poppoed in the wav file - i had to do it and then it rejected it.

i have noticed however that TMPGenc allows you to select another format of audio called mp2 which i hope will be compatible this time around..

    thanks
