Ejecting the Superdrive Tray

My Superdrive no longer recognizes and erases DVD-RW's, is this a sign of impending failure? Is there a Terminal command to open the drive tray when it is hung up and Toast doesn't see the drive anymore? She still burns DVD-R's like there's no tomorrow.

Everyone once in a while some drives fail at my job. Have booted into open firmware and did a reset-nvram then a reset-all. 90% of the time it would fix them, give it a try.

drutil tray open

either:

sudo cdrecord dev=IODVDServices speed=4 blank=all

or:

sudo cdrdao blank --blank-mode full --device IODVDServices --speed 4 --driver generic-mmc --eject

The 'speed 4' is ignored for DVD-RW but the same commands work if you use CD-RW...
