Philips DVP642 and 1080i (HD)

hey everyone!!

can anyone vouch if this player can upres to 1080i or 720p? I know the spec sheet doesnt say anything about it, but it seems to be possible sometimes anyway:

from AVSForum about a LiteOn player, which doesn't advertise HD resolution either:

Easy, I own one, plus there are hundreds of posts here and over at the HomeTheaterForum that say it can upscale. LiteOn doesn't advertise it because upscaling over component is not allowed by the DVD Forum license. But that doesn't stop several companies from allowing it, including LiteOn, Momitsu, LG, Zenith, etc.

so, is anyone able to upscale using the 642?

I don't think it does. I'm almost sure it doesn't. That's alot to ask for a $70 player (for now at least).
