dirty power causing lock ups?

Has any one seen information on the possibility of dirty power causing what appear to be player-disc compatibility problems?

I recently had a customer experience an otherwise unexplainable streak of incompatibility with two brands of DVD players and two brands of discs. I'm thinking it was caused by an inconsistent power supply.

Any further information would be appreciated.

If you are talking noise on the AC mains or voltage fluctuations, it seems unlikely. Most modern power supplies can handle a lot of crap on the line without causing any major problems. I was looking at the PS for my laptop, 100-240VAC and 50-60HZ is OK for it. If the voltage drops below 80VAC, you will probably have a problem, but then your lights will dim and your refrigerators and other heavy power equipment will die first. A possibility is really bad grounding, but that can be tested with a small plug-in tester to see if the wall sockets are wired right. Losing the ground entirely at your fusebox will really fry things.
