I bought a NEC 1760V-BK 17" monitor a moth ago and it's excellent. I got it from newegg for 479+shipping. I play alot of games and they all look nice and pretty.

I have an NEC LCD1912 and an NEC E1100+ non-LCD. Actually I prefer the regular CRT one simply because it's more flexible on screen resolutions. LCD (fixed pixel) displays are designed for a specific resolution (mine is 1280 X 1024). Any resolution other than 1280 X 1024 forces "remapping" and scrolling / motion doesn't always look as good. Some resolutions aren't too bad. Some monitors "remap" faster and better than others.

A hands on test OR a liberal return policy might be a good idea if you can do that.

  4. Thx, I usually use 1280x1024 so thats not a big problem. And I really dont have space for a CRT anymore, ,my desk is quite small.
