Help with downloading trailers that are online

Hi I would appreciate it a lot if you could help me with something.
I am trying to find a way to download some Apple Quicktime trailers that appear in Apple's webpage but they are not in downloable form (i.e. mov or wmv or zip or whatever). The only thing that appears is the Quicktime logo and I have to wait to see the whole of the trailer. But I do not know if after the trailer finishes, is it saved somewhere inside my computer? Do I need to have a special programm that can help me download it?
I know how to download various WIndowsMediaPlayer trailers which are online using WM Recorder but I do not know how to downloade the Quicktime trailers from Apple. I know there must be something out there but I cannot find it. It is very frustrating and I would appreciate it a lot if someone could offer some help. Thanks in advance

List the site, or link to the trailer.

usually, in the lower right of the quicktime screen, there is a down-arrow that you can click. This drops down a menu with "Save as..." options. I haven't seen a trailer yet that didn't have this function.

I've encountered a few trailers that wouldn't save. Even though I'm using Quicktime Pro. When you try to save it says something like "This movie cannot be saved". Not much you can do unless somebody knows of a stream capturing program that works for Quicktime.

I find a lot of times that if Quicktime is not installed and you click on a link that the website allows you to download the file. Doing a "Save target As..." might do something similar.

Also try checking your internet cache files - this can be a bit of work as you will have to hunt and rename...

Another is to try a program like GetRight (www.getright.com), I haven't used it in a while but I recall that it had the ability to read the individual files on the web page.

I had the same problem it's to do with the secure servers that host the video clips but if you head on over to this clever little site at:

http://www.geocities.com/sanevideo/trailers/index.html

then you might get the trailer(s) you're lookin for.

No... A Civil Engineer... I've been using that line for years - usually when the ol' Length vs Width debate arises... Another one of my fav's is: I may not be able to hit bottom but I can sure rub the hell out of the sides.

Ok lets take this trailer for example, here is the url

I saw it while I was online and then went to press in the down right hand corner the small arrow as someone earlier said...nothing happened..the save action is disabled.
Then, I used GetRight and the GetRight Browser, copied the url into it and found the .mov file but it only downloaded 1k.
I doubleclicked the quicktime icon of that trailer and it said my quicktime needs updating. Im doing the update as I write and Ill post later with comments. Lets hope this works.

You could try Streambox VCR Suite - it does work for Quicktime as well as Real. You'll need to copy and paste in the actual URL of the MOV file. You may be able to get this from viewing the source of the Web page, or right click and view properties of the 1k file that downloaded.

Ok this is weird. The 1k quicktime file I downloaded is useless. After my Quicktime update I double clicked it again to try and see if it works and it still says the same thing..
This file requires Quicktime 5.02 or higher to work..
And I have just updated to 6.3!!
Therefore I cannot find in this quicktime file the properties.
Ill download Streambox and see if this works, thanks for suggesting it

I just reread this thread, the URL suggested by johnatcollege has what you are looking for right on the front page! All you have to do is right click on the link and choose "save target as" and Bob's yer Uncle.

This one of the ways that will work. Use SnagIt from TechSmith.

Snagit can also capture audio/video for streaming and save to a .avi file. You can play back with window media player.
1. Launch Snagit
2. Goto Tool and select Video capture
3. Goto Input and check Record Audio
4. Goto your browser and start the streaming
5. Hit the red capture button and use your mouse to select video display
6. The Snagit window will pop and press start.
7. The red camera icon will be flashing on your task bar. Double click it to stop recording.

Can HyperSnapDX do the same as SnagIt? So far I used SnagIt for a trailer and it was brilliant!!!
