Type1/Type2 AVI files

Hello All
Does anyone know of a software solution that will convert an analog type 1 avi file to a DV type 2 avi file?
I have both analog and dv camcorders; firewire for digital-in, and WinTv for analog-in. I want to use PE express to complete my AV projects but it only accepts type 2 avi's.

Fisrt of all, what is an anlaog Type 1 Format ? If it's DV Type 1 you can use ULEAD Mediastudio to convert it to Type 2.

Apparently DV type 2 avi's have an additional sound track sync in the data stream that analog type 1's don't have. PE express only brings in type 2 avi's. If I can convert between the two types I will be able to bring in my video from my old Hi-8 tapes and my newer DV tapes.
Anyway, I personally favor the authoring capabilities of PE express over the Ulead package.
Will AVI_IO or VirtualDub do this transcoding?
