  5. If it does not support DVD audio what is MP3-DVD? Im sure that’s the same thing you just burn the mp3s onto a DVD and listen to them in the player.

No it isn't ! Asolutely not.
There are some guides on this site showing you how to make an MP3-DVD or Audio-DVD.

  8. mp3-dvd = data dvd with 999 mp3 trax
Dvd-Audio= special type of DVD containing 5.1 @96khz@24bits
DIametrically opposed in terms of quality

AFAIK this is the dvx6100/dvx6600 " SmartNavi " gives it away.. its good but not perfect. Has a problem with aspect ratio on playback (xvid/divx) which the company have yet to rectify.

Just one quick thing iv heard they have firmware upgrades out now or comeing out soon, what i wanted to no is. once you download the firmware upgrade how do you install it into the dvd player do you just burn it to dvd and run it in the dvd player?

also one other thing i dont understand what you said, was this dvd player wont play DVD Audio. well i tried Elvis Presley: 30 Hits DVD-Audio and it worked fine is this what you ment by DVD Audio or was you talking about something else?

  10. Actually you unzip/uncompress the file and stick it on cdr. .cdrw. .dvdr. .dvdrw (DVX6100.rom) (I wouldnt waste a DVD tho).
Maybe it can play "proper" dvd-audio.. are you sure its not just playing back the Cd audio on the same disc??(elvis)

  13. yes there is no picture just sound dvd audio

  14. No! you are playing a dvd(-video) just with no picture. This is stored on the same disc. You are getting 5.1 surround sound but the full dvdaudio is of even greater quality. I believe that dvd-audio will prevail over SA-CD. Who knows what new audio format will come out with Blu-ray etc etc.

  15. ok thanks for all the info

  16. SACD also stores two "images" on each disc. One is a CD image that can be read and played on a normal Cdplayer and the other much higher quality tracks is read by the SACD player. But this is too much information, you're thinking, jeez does this nerd always have to have the last post!!

  19. Maplin has two divx players on sale.

The one described is the Yamada DivX DVD PlayerDVX6600. This is generally regarded as the best divx dvd player on the market.

Maplin have another one at £59, which is the Tangent D-400 DiVX DVD Player.

I have never heard of this brand or whether they have regular firmware updates like the Yamada.

Pioneer have a dvd player that can play both DVD-Audio and SACD but is very expensive compared to regular dvd players.
