  1. Hey guys.
    First time poster here.!

I bought this Lite-On player on January and have been pretty happy with it. I can play my mp3's, Divx, Xvid, jpegs, etc. I updated the firmware and I am glad to say that Divx 3.1 movies that I have now play PERFECTLY! (i.e. THEY DON'T FREEZE ANYMORE!!). But now comes the problem:

Since the day I bought the unit, it plays everything well but sometimes when I put DVD's to play them (ORiginal DVD movies purchased at my local store) the player plays them well but other times the movies starts as if it were being fast forwarded and the images come out distorted. I thought that the firmware would correct this but ... no luck. It still does it.!

Does anyone have this same problem? It seems sporadic also, so it may happen today but not tommorrow!

    Any help appreciated.!
    Thanks!

  2. This may or may not work for you.....

Have you used the 'secret menu' to make the machine region free?

If you have, you could try, resetting it to your original, correct, region.
Then see if it will now play that dvd properly.

  3. Hello Heppa Filter123!

    Thanks for your suggestion!
I have never accessed the secret menu so I suppose it is on Region 1.
I will change it to 0 and 1 again and disable macrovision (by the way, what is macrovision? Is that like a lock or something?).
I will let you know if it works.!

    Thanks again.

  4. Well, I put Region 0 and turned macrovision off and it has not given me problems ... yet!

    Also, what is macrovision?

And also, sometimes (when playing video files like divx or mpegs, etc.) the unit will freeze and not accept any input from the remote or the console! This happens sometimes and I have to unplug it because it doesn't even respond to the on/off switch!!!!!

    Does anyone experience this?

I've had this similar problem with a couple of my DVDs as well... Usually an eject and retry takes care of the problem...

  6. Well. It hasn't done it after I turned Macrovision off and changed the region to 0.
So ... I still have to keep on testing!

  7. Well, I have tested with a bunch of DVD's and the unit stopped running the movies that way so thanks guys and especially to Heppa Filter123 for the suggestion.!
