    There is no computer in this equation.

    My DVD recorder picks up hiss when using the coax signal feed in one room. This is not a problem anywhere else in the house.

    It may be tied to the coax line in the wall, or other factors in the room. None of that can be changed.

    What is needed is some sort of filter that can remove the noise.

    Budget is up to $100.

    Any ideas?

  2. Generally, hiss is a broad band noise problem, and not associated with a specific frequency (like AC line hum). By the time you put in a filter to get the hiss out, your audio response is going to be horrible.

    You may wish to spend more time determining what is causing the hiss first. I pretty much guarantee if you can find the source, you'll be much happier than trying to install a filter.

    There are too many variables. I'd just assume quit before pulling apart an entire house full of wiring. I've reached the cut-off point with trying to figure it out, hasn't happened in 4 months.
