After transferring VHS through my DV device to the computer, the video looks okay. However, there is a bar at the bottom of the screen, how can I get rid of it?

  2. How are you transferring it? I know that when I capture video off my VCR, I use VirtualDub as this has a crop option to tidy things up a bit. If you're at the stage of converting to DVD and you're using TMPGEnc, you'll find that there's a crop image option in there you can use to eradicate your black bar.

More information would help a lot! What is your DV device - do you mean a capture card/video input? What program are you using to record to hard drive? Are you at the stage where it's all captured and you want to convert it to another format, such as AVI or DVD?

I don't know which encoder you are using to convert to mpeg but it probably has a clip frame feature.

dont worry about it. if you are making a video for a tv, the overscan will cut it off. no need to clip it.
