I have about 30 VOBs which I jpined with VOBEdit and then ran IFOEdit on the joined VOBs. I then burnd them to a DVD+R and tried to play the disc on my stand alone DVD player. The player recognised the disc as a DVD, but got this message:
"Disc Error:
Playback feature may not be available on this disc."![]()
I tried to burn the VOBs and related IFO and BUP files with Sonic Record Now and ProDVD both and neither would work.
What else do I need to do?![]()

Does your set top player play other DVDr discs?

I ran a test DVD with only 3 vobs on it. I burned it with prodvd and it worked, sork of. The audio was not insync with the video, the video was jumpy and dropped in and out.
Well your audio and video problems aren't a result of the burning process. Any of that stuff was pre-existing in whatever files you burned to DVDr. All burning is is a data transfer.

Would I need to re-rip the vobs? and why wouldn't the finished dvd play on the stand alone player?
Thanks for the help all. I figured it out tonight and am watching the DVD on my stand alone player as I type. For some reason it shrank the video a little and the audio doesn't sound right. It's not bad, I guess I could live with it. I there are any Ideas as to why it did these things, I would appreciate any feedback.
have u tried putting pbc on manually with ur standalone dvd player?
PBC? I guess that would be a no. I also found several of the files I burned didn't have any audio and a lot of the others had the audio and video out of synch about a secound and a half. I don't know what's up with it.
this is how i do it-
when i download a film i always make sure it is an xvid, divx or dvd rip ( makes no difference about the frame rate.
i open the file in vdub - go to file information to check out the audio 48000 hz or 44100, 2 channels or 5 channels - here where i live we have pal - so i change the audio rate(if needed) to 44100 and save wav file.
when i have done that i click on audio - no audio - i then frame serve video only to tmpgenc ( save as ???.vdr.avi) this confuses tmpgenc to think it is an avi file. dont use tmpgenc wizard - close the box - open the ???.vdr.avi from vdub and encode - i always encode - full screen keep aspect ratio 1150kps vbr ( pal) u know have have a video m1v file
open vdub again with the m1v file . go to audio wav file - open wav file saved earlier if its in sync - close vdub and open tmpgenc. close wizard - click on load - clicl on inlock - u now have an not greyed out part to the right - click on audio only . in audio browse - open wav file . output file to an mp2 .and click run
when that is done - open mpeg tools - multiplex add m1v file add mp2 file and run ( save under new name like full.mpg) u now have the full film in mpeg and in sync . if u want to cut the film use mpeg tools merge and cut set start time and end time - always save with a new name ( eg cd1.mpg)
second part of film - open full.mpeg in tools merge and cut select start time as the end time in the first cd and end time as end time save file as cd2.mpeg - 2 cd s in sync!!!
more questions just ask
Should I do this before or after I join the VOBs with Vobedit?
after
Thanks for the help, I will try this in the next couple of days. Will post how things go.
