Do they have to be in a certain format or size?

  2. From the TDA help file:

You can select the background image for each theme from among any BMP or JPEG file. (The aspect ratio of the selected files should be as close to 4:3 (for example 720*480,640*480,352*240,320*240) to avoid any distortion in the picture

Thanks RCB, but unfortunately I am looking for an answer to thumbnail image backgrounds, not the entire menu background.

    Thanks,

  4. If you size your images to your liking in an external image program (Adobe, PSP, etc.) then select them as button backgrounds, they should not be blurry as long as you don't resize them in TMPGEnc DVD Author.

Also, it depends on the resolution of your original image. A tiny web-friendly image will look like crap on your television. Oh, and by the way, your image will tend to look a little blurry anyway in DVD Author. Once it is burned to disc & watched on TV, it should be fine.
