Ulead Video Software Filters! Please explain Filters?

This ulead video software and I imaging other video editing softwares have filters. Could somebody explain to me what are this filter usefull for and or the meaning of each one.some are self explanatory but others i do not know what they are for

Filters allow one to change or manipulate one's video in creative ways.

- One can use filters to make video look more like film;

- One can use filters to alter brightness and contrast;

- One can use filters to crop video.

Usually one can drag a filter onto the video clip in the timeline of a video editor and then one can adjust parameters in the filter's custom settings menu.
