Installation in HP Pavillion was straightforward with no obvious problems. However, when watching TV, signal is lost every two minutes and can only be regained by switching channels. This went away once (while I was browsing this web site) but returned when I rebooted the machine. I assume cancelling some process or other removed the problem but this was reinstalled at reboot.

Worse, there is no sound when recording from any source, external or internal. Jump lead IS conected between TV card and sound card (Avance?). Have also tried feeding audio direct to sound card to no avail. Have read that some programme or other is muting the record function but which, where and how do I cure it?

    Any hints welcome.

If you have all your hardware correctly setup, I'd try checking that you have your Windows recordng level for your line-in set high enough. double click on your speaker icon on the taskbar tray, and then click on "options" on the menu bar. Then click on "properties" and in the box for "adjust volume for", click on the radio button for "recording." Then make sure the box for "line-in" is checked and click "ok." You should then be able to adjust your "line-in" recording volume.

Excellent. I think that's cured it ) Turned line-in volume up from half way to full. On test with an open line I now get loud white noise instead of the dead silence I got before.

Thank you for the fast response.

I'm sure there's an obvious cure for the loss of TV channel but can't see it yet. Signal strength is high. It's some sort of clock signal which knocks the channel selector off. I think the windows clock blinks when it happens but that might just be my imagination?

unfortunately, I don't use my tv tuner, so can't really help you there.

It turned out to be Norton Antivirus blocking the tuner. Disabling CCapp.exe restored the tuner to full functionality but of course it's dangerous to go on line without an anitvirus programme of some sort.
