Thread: JVC SVHS VCR'S

Thread
  1. Anyone out there know much about a JVC HR-S7200U? I cant find much info on it. Good? Bad? TBC? Opinions?

Also trying to put together a list of model numbers to watch for on ebay. I've got a few from searching these forums. I'm curious what others use for VHS capture.

    Thanks

What's it say? Sounds like an older 7000 model.
    TBC? Not sure.
Check out JVC website for products archive.

Didn't I see you just win an e-bay auction for the 7200? If so, let me know what it's like. I tried finding specs, etc. on JVC's site and there is nothing there.

I'm interested in knowing what features it has for future reference.

That sounds like JVC's followup to the HR-S7000U, which was the first S-VHS machine ever (and i still have mine).

No TBC, though it's possible that feature may have been added by the time they put out the 7200.

The 7000 is a great machine (well, as great as a VHS machine is capable of being, anyway ). I bought it in 1988 and it's still going, though in the last five years I probably haven't used it as much as I did in its first week.

  5. Yeah, that was me on ebay.....figured either way I needed a new one in the living room. and it might be better than my 1984 RCA VKP-925. I searched all over the internet and couldnt find anything much about it.

This guy has one, in what looks to be a fairly professional setup, so I figured it wasn't total crap.

This says it was $850 in 1995, and a few basic specs, again probably not total crap.

Thats it though, it isn't even in the archived section of JVC's website.

I'll post what I can find out when I get it.

  6. I am using a JVC S7670... (borrowed) 1998 model. I don't think this one has TBC either.

  8. Hello again,

    Got the VCR today.

The function menu is slightly different than what's described on lordsmurf's site.

There is no mention of video calibration, or picture control.

I have a video stabilizer button on the machine, rather than a menu setting.

I'm also wondering about the TBC/DNR button he describes on his site as a button that lights up either green or red. What's the button labeled on a TBC equipped machine?....I have one that says "Dynamic Contrast" and turns green. Is that good or bad I wonder.

Also there isn't a tracking adjustment.

I'm hoping to find a manual somewhere on the net, but it'll probably take a while. Any help in the meantime would be appreciated.

    Thanks all

Can you post images of the VCR and the screen displays?

  10. Yeah, here's a few.

I was happy to find a manual on JVC's website.

I'm thinking there isn't a TBC on this. I found a few other machines on EBay with decent pictures, and the TBC button was very obviously labeled TBC/NR.

Haven't found out quite what dynamic contrast is yet, though it does change the contrast of the picture to what I'd imagine "sharp" is in picture control.

I'll try to get some screenshots of the menus Wednsday night.

  12. Here's a link, I got it by doing a model number search in the Accessory Store part of JVC's site.

Also got some screencaps of the vcr's menus
