Compro VideoMate TV Gold Plus-remote problem

Got one of these for Xmas. The problem I'm running into is the ComproRemote.exe does not always load. About every 3-4 bootups I get the icon in the tray and the remote works fine. The other times I get no icon, it shows the file in the Processes running (using XP Pro), but if I try to end it, it just stays there and when I shut down the pc it shows a box that XP is trying to end it but it won't respond and I have to hard reboot to get out of it.
I've downloaded all the updates off Compro's site but it still does this.

Any suggestions?

I'd think this is down to Windows XP rather than Compro. I've seen this happen with my icons for DirectCD, a weather program, etc. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't.

Actually the most recent update from Compro in Feb fixed the problem and now the remote.exe loads fine.
