Hey, I'm wondering if anyone can help me with this... I bought an AMW v99 DVD player yesterday because I had read nothing but good things about it and it was a great price. When I got it home and started watching a movie I found the audio quality to be really poor! At certian points in the movie (more often than not) it would sound like it was clipping; the sound would get 'grainy' or 'digital'.

I really hope someone can help me with this problem, or at least varify my hopes of it just being a lemon. I want to hold on to this player! What can I do to fix it (if anything!)?

It's not a lemon. You get what you pay for. While some of these cheap units (Apex, AMW, Mintek, etc) are well known for being able to play just about any kind of disc, when it comes to video and audio quality, they are very subpar when compared to a Panasonic, Sony etc.. I own a AMW v101 and it plays anything I thow at it but I rarely use it because my Panasonic simply blows it away in the video department.

ahhh yea, I was afraid of that... I guess their website is misleading when it says: "high-quality audio output".... maybe it's high quality if you're deaf!

  4. i'm having the same problem too..

-audio sounding like a old record (the music thing, big black disc) or as you described, grainy...

    also
-audio not in sync with video just a bit.. the mouth is just a LITTLE faster or slower than sound on some dvds
-video seems a bit jerky on some scenes.. as if you were playing divx movies on a pentium I computer

those are the problems i have with amw v99.. i also bought it a few days ago at future shop

does anyone know how to fix the grainy audio problem? it's really getting annoying... by the way, i don't have any extra audio.. i just use TV's audio.. and connected it by double RCA jacks.. the red and white..

all the dvds i have are real.. none of those copied or pirated versions

any help would be greatly appreciated

  6. I bought one of these for my dad for Christmas actually, since he's not much of a tech guy and figured he wouldn't notice too much difference...

and I was right! He's really happy with it. I did try it out before I gave it to him and from what I saw it was okay. I didn't notice any audio problems except that some VCD's were out of sync. It's fast in that it plays the disc very quickly after you insert it; also stopping and playing again happen fast. It played every type of disc I put in it, but again, the VCD's were not in sync.

I like the remote okay...well a lot better than the one that came with my old Samsung!
