It's in the documentation, either as html or pdf, if you go to http://www.vcdimager.org or go to Vitualis' site at http://www.michaeltam.com.

  3. In a nutshell...

vcdxrip -- it is a tool that disassembles a disc image of a SVCD or VCD into the component media files (and other files if they exist in the filesystem) as well as creates an XML descriptor file/script.

vcdxbuild -- this is the reverse of the above. It takes an XML descriptor file and the associated media files to build a disc image of a S/VCD.

Both are tools of VCDImager -- one of the best VCD authoring systems in existence. They are command console tools -- so under windows, it is probably easier to use a GUI like VCDEasy or VCDImager Tools GUI.

The image format used is the CUE/BIN image format or the CDRDAO TOC format.

For more info: as per Cornucopia -- see the VCDimager manual or have a look at my site: http://www.michaeltam.com
