OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacture. It simply means that it origianlly came with the computer. It is not an after-market, or user installed part.
2 DVD, or not 2 DVD, that is the question.

  3. OEM = Original Equipement Manufactured. It's the way pc manufacturers and/or assemblers usually purchase drives (or other equipment) in bulk. In our case (as endusers - ordering drives from a website), it usually means that it comes in a plain non-static wrapper, maybe a plain white box, with NO documentation, and usually NO software

So what does it have to with dvd burners that are sold online. Does it make sense to buy OEM. I heard somewhere that OEM means taht it is made by some unknown company and then lets say pioneer just print their brand name on it.

  6. OEM = Original Equipement Manufacturer. means its from the company that made it and comes without all the fancies that retail drives have, eg screws cables and a nice box. bought in bulk this way by many companies.
