  1. Hi folks,

I have a Region 2 DVD that I want to watch when I go to see relatives in America. I know that when I back it up it will be region free, but what about the PAL vs NTSC issue? Will this depend on the player I use to watch it?

I think the American DVD player is an Apex 500.

    Any help appreciated.

    Thanks,

    NiVZ.

Your understanding correctlly. Many "American/ Region 1" players are locked to accept Region 1 AND NTSC in the Ifo headers. You can try a quick IFO Header trick. many on this forum have tried it with different players wirt different results.

Many American DVD players have the capability to convert PAL to NTSC on the fly but is restricted to what data is present in the IFO files. All you are doing with this trick is backing up your Region 2 DVD as normal but before you burn Use IfoEdit 0.96 Change all your PAL refference from PAL to NTSC and change your region code from a value of 0 - regions 1 through 8 to a value of 254 - region 1 only. I have not had a bad visual output result on Apex AD-1500 a Toshiba and a Sony.
