I can't find any reviews on this model. Does anyone know if it will play VCD & SVCD? I'm assuming DVD-R & DVD+R compatibility but that might be dangerous..haha

Any comments from owners of this model of folks that have tested it are appreciated!

Wont they let you try a disc right there in the store? I did that with my apex AD600, which if anyone knows about is a dandy of a find. Got my new jvc so im gonna ebay the apex now.

I have this exact same model and I have been able to play everything I have thrown at it:

Homemade DVDs, xvcds, svcds, vcd, mp3, and the kodak picture cd.

Only has s-video out, but the picture is superb.

What a great buy for $30!

Thanks for the info! I picked up 2 of these yesterday morning at Wal-Mart. They only had about 100 or so and they didn't last much past 6AM 8)

  9. They don't have closed captions or display on the front. I have an apex.

aspire 1000 from buy.com for the same price after rebate, is great too, pal, ntsc, 110/220v, lcd display, cd+g support, dolby, etc etc

lol, well it can play dvd-rws, but I had made a movie with my maxell dvd-rw and the player can read the movies, but the sound sounds like chipmunks.

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers sound like chipmunks, lol

I don't think dvd-rws work well on this player, lol.
