Got this movie in French language. It came with another (much smaller)file with an SMI extension. It is only 49.2KB.

What is an SMI filetype for?

Is it subtitles maybe? Viewing it in a text editor give no clue.

IF my memory's correct, .smi is Real file that makes text, video, etc. play. I used to use it ages ago. It was free to download the compiler for it a few years back. Unless something else uses that extension, there should be more info at real.com.

.SMI = SMIL Multimedia Presentation, and can be opened by the RealOne Player.

Thanks for that. I understand now that I can safely delete it.... after all, *anything* that needs the Real player to use must by definition be utter crap.

    Cheers.
