hello peeps i have a problem and i cant seem to sort it out .
im downloading vcd and svcd and it looks and sounds ok when i play it on my pc,, the problem is when i copy it do disk and play it on my tv
lets say when something is moving from left to right the pic as a slight judder in it like its very slightly frezzing .. i use tmpeg Version 2.520.54.163 and i was using nero 6 but have changed back to 5.9
my pc is a amd 2.6 ati 9500 pro grafix card and 1024 ddr 2700 gig of memory
thats the spec of the pc so can anyone tell me if it could be something to do with the pc also can anyone give me some tips on nero or tmpeg
im useing the standard setting in both programes . so im thinking it might be something to do with the setting in these programes .. would be very great full if someone could help me out and give me some settings i could try out in these programes

If you're dl-ing VCD and SVCD, why are you reencoding?

hello m8 i only have to do it sometimes if when i go to burn it nero says it not right . but most of the time they are fine ......... im burning them at 8 speed cant go any lower i did read somewhere on here that to burn at a lower rate but its still the same is there another burning software out there which is like nero and will let you choose to burn svcd or vcd's

VCDEasy will burn (S)VCD's, it's in the Tools section of this site. Alternatively, it will create cue/bin disk images that you can burn with Nero.

It's most likely not caused by the burning stage, but in the encoding stage. It's mostly caused by frame rate conversions. Keep the (S)VCD frame rate the same as your source frame rate, or do a real frame rate conversion before encoding.

hello again .
if i download a vcd or svcd and just burn it its the same . looks fine on the pc but when i burn it i get a slight judder when the vcd is playing
and thats with out encoding.. i was using nero 6 but now i have gone back to 5.9 will let you know how it works out

You are probably dealing with an NTSC/PAL issue. Sorry to say it, but about 1/2 of all VCD/SVCD are PAL, leaving the other 1/2 NTSC. Try searching for one of those conversion gudies after you have checked the files with GSPOT. Your PC will play anything...

Well, there's no telling if the one who originally created the VCD got it right - it may be a bad conversion.
I've got a feeling that my player (PAL) doesn't handle NTSC correctly, but introduces a slight "pausing" effect every sec or so, making what's intended to be a smooth movement of an object over the picture to be slightly jerky. I'm not 100% sure, but I think I made a 100% NTSC SVCD, but the jerkines remains. I thought I'd skip the NTSC to PAL conversion steps, for once, but...
