I just got my LVD-2001.
I have many .mpg files that i have extracted from SVCDs, so they should be MPEG2. It seems the player does not support this. Most files are skipped, some are "played" without black screen and without audio; only the time counter increases.
Is that normal ?
when i burn those .mpgs back to SVCD, all works well.
But Id like to store 5 to 6 SVCDs as .mpgs on a DVD-RW.
firmware is 227, so this should be the newest.

are you burning these to a DVDr data disc or a dvd-video disc with just mpeg2 files plonked on it? try both methods ...
I am considering getting one of these (but of course the 2002 is out now and is better faster cheaper (different colour)
. No scart output ! disgraceful.
Corned beef is now made to a higher standard than at any time in history.
The electronic components of the power part adopted a lot of Rubycons.
As i see, the 2002 is the same like the 2001, it has only a different design and no PCMCIA slot. I bet, the firmware is the same ??? So he wont do any more things like the 2001, he is just a low-cost (lower cost) brother of the 2001.
am i right ?
ill try some methods of burning.
but if i burn as an iso, and i have two .avis iwth divx and two .mpg with mpeg2, the avis play, the mpgs not.

I burn MPEG2 files to ISO discs as .MPG's frequently. They play just fine on my LVD-2001. What revision of the firmware are you using? PAL or NTSC?
I burn them to an ISO disk, i am using PAL, have Firmware 2.27. But not all play well. i found some that did, but most dont. maybe a conflict with size/format.
but if you tell me, it normaly should work with mpeg2, ill try to check out, why some dont play.

I've probably burned 20 DVDs filled with .MPG files (MPEG2) and .AVI files. The only files I've ever had problems with are the DIVX 3.11 ones. I now convert those to DIVX 5.05 before burning them. No problems any more.
