R there any 9.4 GB discs that can record on both sides without having 2 turn the disc over & is it true u can't finalize a dvd ram disc if it's got a cartridge on it.

IFAIK, the cartridge has openings on both sides, but it doesn't matter since the disc will be spinning in 1 direction only. So if the normal recording layer is supposed to record, say, clockwise, the other side would be spinning counter-clockwise and the DVD spec doesn't support reading the tracks in the opposite spiral direction. Burning capability would be mainly determined by the burner.

Finalizing is easier--the disc can (and usually should) be in the cartridge for finalizing.

Thanks 4 the reply Cornucopia, what I ment to ask was, when recording on a 9.4 GB ram disc & u run out of time on side A, I heard somewhere can't remember, that it automatically records on the other side but the panny 1's don't. Does these apply to all 9.4 GB discs ? Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks.

Yes, you have to turn the disk over. I haven't seen any that have a laser on both sides of the disk. At least not in my price range.
Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they?
