I'm always on the search for freeware I found this FREE DVD Backup Tool with Multi-Language Support called DVD TO DVD COPY XPRESS. I don't care to copy 1 DVD9 to two DVD5's. But I figure someone might like this. Seems like DVDXCOPY but freeware.

Whoa! They're only one"X" away from having the same name as DVDXCOPYXPRESS! Better download it quick before 321 Studios sues them and they go out of business. Speaking of business, I notice that the bottom of their web page says, "©2003 DVDCOPYXPRESS, Inc. All rights reserved". If they're incorporated, how do they make any money giving away free software?
Can you say, "spyware"? Better run Adaware or some other spyware detector after downloading it, just to be sure.
Remember, just because you're paranoid, doesn't mean they're *not* out to get you.

See the other thread on this same topic. Apparently, this software *does* contain spyware.

This software installs NAVExcel, a spyware program. If you have already installed this software, uninstall it. As recommended by Wolfmancatsup, you can use the latest AD-Aware 6.0 build 6.181, but you must first make sure you have the latest update to it. This will find and remove NAVExcel and probably a lot of other crap that you didn't know you had on your computer.
The software is pure crap anyway, spyware or not.

It should say in the "Initialization status" field of the first screen that comes up in Ad-Aware after you launch it, "Reference file 01R21122.08.2003 loaded". In case you didn't notice, the last few digits of that reference file are today's date, so this update just came out today, apparently.
Anyway, if it doesn't display that number, on that same screen, click thek the "Check for updates now" link, and it should take you through the steps to load that reference file.

I tried to use it and found the following:

    - Does contain NavExcel which tries to connect to the internet and download updates - probably a trojan horse of some kind
    - Navexcel was stopped by my firewall (Norton internet security 2003)
    - It seemed to work until trying to produce the temporary files for burning. The problem is that it seems hardcoded to use the C: drive, which on my machine is my Win98 partition of 1.5GB. Of course it ran out of space (I run WinXP Pro on drive F).

Has anyone tried it to the end and see what the final burn looks like?
