Thread: Computer Forum

Thread
  1. I think there should be a forum dedicated to our computers. I just noticed that a lot of people ask about hard-drives (including me), virus info, etc. in the off-topic forum and I thought it would be best for a separate forum for this.

Milton........we need to talk..........its just that we are trying to put the new cover page on all of our tps reports..........so if you could go ahead and do that.......great.........oh one more thing..............if you could go ahead and move your desk out to the parking lot that would be great.....

I think that would be an awsome idea. I currently have a store bought computer but I have just ordered about $2,000 of hardware to build my next one and by this being the first computer I have ever built, I am going to be asking alot of questions.

I think someone once asked for another forum and Baldrick mentioned there were too many already.
Think you might be out of luck guys

tgpo, my real dad, told me to make a maximum of 5,806 posts on vcdhelp.com in one lifetime. So I have.

  7. If there are too many then why do we have a forums dedicated to individual prog's like VCDEasy, ffMPEGx, and SVCD2DVDMPEG, who have relatively small amounts of posts?

Couldn't we combine the ones for those listed above? (i.e., put VCDEasy authoring, burning, playback, and comments into one forum?)

Did any of the moderators or Baldrick see this topic, if so any comments?

I personally find it fine in the Off-Topic forum, but we'll see what the big 'B' thinks about it.

I don't really have a care either way. Off topic is fine for me. My one fear would be to make it and have it be ignored like it is on so many other boards.

Well all we have to do is make sure every third post is about sex. That should do it.

I agree. Perhaps, it was thought at that time, that there would be enough interest in a separate forum for VCDEasy, etc. But with hindsight, those forums could be merged with the more generic forums.

I am also of the opinion that a Hardware Forum would benefit the users.

Anyone interested in moderating the computer forum if I make one?? especially moving video and off topic posts.

And I will join the vcdeasy forums to one and maybe also the ffmpegx(it depends what major thinks).

I've got plenty of time on my hands at the moment, i'd be happy to help.

I personally think it's a good idea too, i mean we all have computers, and we've managed to get together a fairly knowledgable group of people on here!

Excellent idea ! I too would be happy to help (no , not looking to moderate) but can lend some advice on parts/specs/etc.....

Can I make a suggestion though. Make it a Computer and camera/accessorie forum...Its still hardware, all related and can benefit those looking to mate the two (not in the biblical sense)..LOL

So did you rope one of the current mods in to look after it, or are they all sharing the task?

I say, just extend the moderation to any current mods that are willing. We just need someone to be able to poor water on any flame wars that may erupt.

And I would volunteer except I may not have much time as the next 2 weeks will see some major changes, and I may not have the time.

  26. Evening peoples.. TGIF to all :P

    @ Baldrick..
I'm all for the Computer FORUM.. good idea for one
    .
    .
And please, choose someone that is not an "argumentater" type.. you know..

    * those that flame or give cause for flame, like in the past..
    * please do review past threads and topics to see that those that have or
...show potential for poor MODeratorship, are carefully examined etc.
    * yes, there's no room for some one w/ an ax to grind or negative attitude

You've done a GREAT job at choosing those MOD's that are already existing here

I have NO complaints about anyone here All, do a great job at donating
their free/busy time MOD'ing this great FORUM

Although I've ben in the computer field for 16+ years, I feel I would not
be suitable for such a great job. In every 1 to 2 year upgrades, I put all
my pcs together w/ parts and things, from stratch.. so that I have nobody
to blame but myself if anything happens. My first "complete store built" pc
was an ITT Extra 5 1/2" drive (no hd) and 256k RAM, though imo,
was the best pc ever!! even though back then, 1987 it was the best 8088 cpu brand'wise. I fell in love w/ it, while shopping at a store I visited every
day, Service Merchandise.. till finally, I gave in and bought it I LOVED it
    every day !! Well, anyways..

I know you'll choose the right person(s) for the Computer FORUM job. And,
those that are choosen.. good luck, and congrats.. please keep vcdhelp's
FORUM in the same uniqueness it is !!

Thank you all, and have a great weekend
