Yes, I still watch VHS tapes and many of my VHS2DVDs on my analogue Sony Trinitron. I am thinking of taking the plunge of getting a HDTV...looking at the Samsung rear projections with DLP. My question is, how bad do your VHS or VHS2DVDs look when viewed on these hi-res monitors. The guy at my local Circuit City said that his tapes were just plain un-watchable. He had to keep his old analogue RCA to watch his VHS tapes. Can anyone shed light on this subject?

  2. Plasma TV's are still way too expensive IMO. LCD TV's also are not cheap and have low contrast ratios so not a good thing. The best bang for the buck these days is the DLP (digital light projection) TV's which have very good contrast ratios (but not as high as the plasma) and are only about 12 inches in depth even for a 53 inch unit (a typical projection unit would be like 28 inches in depth).

Now to your question, my old VHS tapes look terrific on my JVC 48 inch hdtv but of course not as good as a DVD.
