Main Menu - Can I Keep It?

I am working on a project in IfoEdit where I edited the subtitles and saved it as a new SUP file. I have merged the VOB files and AC3 files and I am ready to mux it all back together when I author the DVD. IfoEdit will now create new IFO, BUP files.

My question is can I now insert the original main menu back into the project and correct the VTS sectors? I kept the VTS_01_0.VOB, VTS_01_0.IFO, and VTS_01_0.BUP files in a seperate folder while I worked on the others.

I have muxed the audio, video and subs with IfoEdit. I now have three VTS_01.xx.VOB files. I added the VTS_VIDEO.IFO, VTS_01_0.IFO, VTS_01_0.VOB (main menu), etc. from the original DVD to the new VTS_VIDEO file. I open IfoEdit to "Get VTS Sectors" to correct the IFOs, but when I play the DVD from my HD it still skips the main menu and goes straight to the movie?

They say those who talk to themselves (in this case answering thier own posts) are a little nutty and maybe a little deranged. But i don't have a choice because no one has replied.

So searching around the forum I think all I have to do is add my new VOB files into the original VTS_VIDEO file of the DVD rip.

1)Use IfoEdit and Open the .IFO file. (For example "VTS_01_0.IFO")
2) Click on "VOB Extras"
3) Set all settings to correct original IFOs
4) Click "OK" and wait.
5) Save the File (with the same name, and answer 'yes' to save *.BUP)

If this doesn't work and I still don't have any replys from the experts, we will have to resort to drastic measures

I haven't tried this but it might work.

After creating your new ifos, put the VTS_01_0.VOB in the same folder.
Open the new VTS_01_0.IFO in IfoEdit and click Tools/Merge Menu tables.
Select the original VTS_01_0.IFO and save file. Get VTS sectors.

If the disk doesn't start with the menu then open VIDEO_TS.IFO
Click VMGM_MAT/First Play PGC and right click on the 1.Pre Command line and choose (JumpSS_VTSM)Jump to titleset Menu and enter Title Nr:=1, Titleset Nr:=1 and Menu:=root.
Save file.

Hi,

You could also use IFOUpdate to merge PGC/Cell structures between .ifo files. I used it when encoding movies with DVD2DVDR using CCE and wanted to keep the menu. The Documentation that comes with the program should explain everything.

Now that I have the "Blaster" virus off of my computer, I can get back to my DVD project.

Here's what I did:

1) Put re-edited VOB files back into original VTS_VIDEO folder, replacing the original VOB files.
2)Opened IfoEdit and opened the VTS_01_0.IFO
2)Clicked on "VOB Extras"
3) Set all settings to correct original IFOs
4) Clicked "OK" and waited.
5) Saved the File (with the same name, and answer 'yes' to save *.BUP)

It worked Now the main menu can find the VOB's for the movie. Now I just have a problem with my subtitles being Red on a white background. I'll save that one for a new post.

Thanks bigb_y2g for logging what you discovered! I was trying to do something very similar and you got me started. By the way, how did you learn all this? I am still struggling in my attempts to understand what all the menus in IfoEdit do. I found the many tutorials on it, but no descriptions of each menu item and checkbox.
