    Hello.

I have a wedding video that I created and put to DVD.

    I missed a 30 second scene.

I need to use Ulead DVD MFII to convert the VOBS back to the source MPEG 2. No problem.

Now, if I take the MPEG 2 and put in Vegas Video, add the 20 seconds(in the middle of course) and put out as MPEG 2 , SAME EXACT bitrate, will I lose quality ?

Is it better to send out as DV AVI which I normally do( but they are normally AVI;'s) and then use TMPG to re-encode ?

What I am trying to make sure is that by doing this, since I am not using AVI as the source, I dont degrade the other hour and 59 minutes of video for this stupid 20 seconds (which the customer must have)

    THANKS !

  2. hi,

i'm new to this, so i might be wrong, but since you don't change the bitrate, it is as if you're pasting the 3 parts together. there should be no recompression and therefore no loss in quality.
    greets,

    honfrek

    Lossless & Quick:

Step 1: Encode the clip you're adding in(clip a) using the exact same settings as the clip you're adding it too(clip b)
Step 2: Open the TMPGEnc MEPG Tools and select 'Merge & cut'
Step 3: Insert clip b(fully muxed) first and then set its end point to where you want clip a to go
Step 4: Add clip a(fully muxed)
Step 5: Add clip b again(fully muxed) and set the start point to where clip a would end in the final
    Step 6: Hit RUN!
