Half Screen Playback

Hi i have 2 issues, I used Smart ripper on a PAL "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" and after re-encoding with DVD2 ONE i only get half scren playback, The title is for Wide screen but is still only showing half of the screen in playback. top half of tv is black ( only in this film) Does anyone know how to solve this issue? or why it is happening?

Secondly, my Power DVD or my Windows Media player cannot read "Gangs of New York" it's all pixelated and then you cant skip chapters, When going to Rip movie there is no option to rip the movie. It simply wont rip how can i back up my copy?

you playing it on NTSC TV??
