  2. I want to create subtitles for my home movies that show the date (and maybe time) of the video when enabled.

    1. Is there an application that can extract date/time information from the DV AVI?

    2. How would I go about keeping this sync'd with the video I would be editing (probably with Premiere)?

The file "filter_name.vdf" goes in the "plugins" folder under the VirtualDub main directory.

That should load the filter when VirtualDub is started. Failing that, you can manually load it for now until you sort it out...

I just tried this, (bar bones test) and it worked.
The guide is *rediculously easy* but I'd like to get a better
grip on how to place the text. I guess I'll have to play
around till I figure things out

Thanks to Tommyknocker (and my random surfing) I found
    this guide

If you want to use .srt files, install the TextSub filter in Virtual Dub as well. Use the TextSub filter to display .srt or .sub subtitles.

Where did you get the textsub filter from? It supposed to come from VobSub. and you add it to your plug ins when you extract it.

I'm having problems too... so I copied textsub.vdf to VD's plugins folder. When I opened VD, this error message came up: The application or DLL D:\Program Files\Virtual Dub\plugins\textsub.vdf is not a valid Windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette. Thanks in advance...

It seems it has to be added to the plugins directory when you are installing VobSub. Have you tried it this way?

  26. When i play movie and subtitles in subsynch , movie, sound and subtitles are in sync. When i follow this guide to put the subs permanent in the movie as a divx , the result gives the sound out of sync! What do i have to do to get the sound also in sync?
