    Hi all,

    Before writing to CD-R I'm intending writing to CD-RW, firstly, to test whether or not my DVD player will play them, and secondly to see which encoding method gives the best acceptable results.

    I am going to encode the same 5 minute clip several times using both compliant and non-compliant bitrates, and both VCD and SVCD formats.

    Can I put all these clips on the same CD to test them?

    Thanks in advance.

    You can certainly put VCD and XVCD on the same disk.
    You can also put SVCD and XSVCD on the same disk
    You can not put VCD and SVCD on the same disk, they use a different file structure.

    Thanks for the quick response Bugster.

    Will I need to create a BIN/CUE file containing my SVCD's and XSVCD's, and burn as non-compliant SVCD? Likewise for VCD's?

    Thanks again.

    If you use VCDEasy you can just burn them from there, otherwise you'd create a bin/cue for the SVCD tests, and a bin/cue for the VCD tests. I do this with CD-RWs all the time to test different thing out. Its also nice, if you use AVISynth, to add "subtitles" to each clip so you know which one you are viewing.
    Ejoc's CVD Page:
    DVDDecrypter -> DVD2AVI -> Vobsub -> AVISynth -> TMPGEnc -> VCDEasy

    DVD:
    DVDShrink -> RecordNow DX

    Capture:
    VirualDub -> AVISynth -> QuEnc -> ffmpeggui -> TMPGEnc DVD Author
