Good PVR/DVR Software

I've tried WinDvr but there is not a "weekyday" setting so if I record a show every day I need to enter it 5 times.

Tried PowerVCR but it will not close itself out after it records and always NEEDS me to answer whether or not I want to save the file I just scheduled it to record.

I use iuVCR but just for raw avi's for conversion, as I can not for the life of me get the multiple presets to work.

I've tried Honestechtvr, but that also does not have a weekday setting.

Am using ATI's MMC 7.6 and then taskkill to close it out but that's a pain and I DO NOT want to give them anymore money to upgrade to either 8.1 or 8.5, sooooooooooo

anyone out there have something that'll fit my ah, requirements?

I use ATI MMC, and just set it up. I do't think it has a limit on the numbers of programs, so just sit there for 5-10 minutes and do a few months worth.

You don't need to pay ATi any money to download their latest MMC (8.5) & drivers. You just won't get the updated DVD decoder, but you'll still have the ability to record & playback using the old codecs.

If you have been able to "upgrade" from a version older then 7.7 to 8.5 I'd love for you to tell me the order that worked for you.

I've tried 5 times on 2 different machines and each time had to rebuild and go back to 7.6.

I just started using VirtualVCR. You can set it up to use the windows task scheduler and it will come on and record even if nobody's logged in. In the task scheduler, I tell it to end the task after a certain amount of time so it will cut itself off.

I've tried that - but use iuVCR which is pretty much the same thing (if I could only get the different presets for different codecs working - although it doesn't records mpeg) as they both record avi's.

The reason I wanted to use either MMC 8.5 or something else is for shows that I just want to watch and not keep or convert and burn to DVD which I'd rather do myself, so I can record them with a DVD spec and save space (not like I need to with 500 gig), BUT (as he pauses for a breath) I've finally got MMC 8.5 to work.

The 2 things I like about it is that it will shut itself off after it's through and I can program "weekly" events.

Got lucky on the install - just refuse to give ATI any more $$$$.

Here is a site that lists many different PVR options for the PC. Read the details on the software's site to ensure it supports your tuner card before trying to download and use it.
