  1. My first capture for moving a VHS tape to DVD was not very successfull.

Using different capture programs (AVI IO, Asus Live Video, ArcSoft's Showbiz) I've tried to capture a VHS tape on my HD for further transfer to a DVD.
I can see the 'live' video feed on the screen as well as hear the sound. During the capture fase I do not get errormessages. After I have completed my capture however, all I see during playback is a green screen without sound.

I have hooked up my JVC Videoplayer to my PC Videocard (Asus GF2 VP7700). A four pin outlet on the JVC is connected to 7 pins input on the videocard. In addition the stereo output of the JVC is connected to the input of the soundcard.
Please refer to my system specs for more details.

I've tried a variety of formats and compression settings (as well as no compression at all) without success.

Does anyone know what this newbie is doing wrong ???

    Frits

If this is a pre-recorded tape (ie. store bought tape) then it is macrovision protected and you will not be able to copy it to the HD. Look for a card that will accept a macrovision signal or else a registry hack (like the ATI All In Wonder one at this site) that will allow the recording...

  3. No, it is a blank tape onto which I recorded a TV program and another tape with homevideos.

I had a similar problem with an older Asus Video card, in my case the problem was that I was Using a Video driver other than the Asus Video Driver.
