My PSU has two PCI-E that look just like this. I plan on getting a gtx 980 & at first it seems like my psu's two 6+2 power connectors would just fit into the gpu's two 8.
But the square shape on the split two has a slight extended shape on its side, would this still fit? Or is there a reason it's there?
thanks

It will fit a 8 pin gpu socket.

IIRC you have to slide the 2 slot in to the 6 slot on the side ( hence the odd shape on the side) which then makes it into a 8 slot
