    Hello

I need to recommend a Macintosh application for someone I know who has little computer knowledge and needs to build videos of presentations he makes.

    He simply needs to…
    • Insert PowerPoint slides so that the camcorder stays on him the whole time instead of zooming in and out of the screen behind
    • Join multiple videos into a single file
    • If need be, resize the video to get a smaller file before uploading to YouTube

Is there a good, simple application for Macintosh that can do this, either free or commercial?

    Thank you.

  2. On a mac there are three options:
iMovie, which is probably insufficient for his needs
FCPX, which is way overkill, but only $300
    Premiere Pro, also overkill $30/mo
(Could also try Premiere Elements -- haven't personally used it in years, but last I tried it was clunky.)

On a PC, he could go with Vegas Movie Studio $50.

If you're going to be doing these projects on a regular basis and on a Mac, you really should invest in FCPX. It's an amazing piece of software and money well spent for video work. I also still use Vegas on my Mac in a Windows VM from time to time. I love Vegas but you need Windows to run it.
