    Open your 1st mp3. Click "Edit...copy". Open your second file, then "Edit...paste", then "File...Save all". Just tried this with 2 mp3s I'd made from the same CD and it worked fine. If your mp3s have different settings, it gives you a "not possible" message, so you'll need to recode one to match the other.

    To add more files to the first 2, instead of clicking "Save all" as above, instead choose "Edit...Select all", "Edit...copy", then open your 3rd file, paste, and save all.

    There may be a better way to do this with mp3directcut (I usually use MP3 Cutter & Joiner, but it's payware), but this worked for me.

    Easier to use Mp3Directcut's batch mode for joining multiple mp3s together.

    File > Batch Processing > Join to file

    Apologies for bumping an old thread.

    @suadnovic

    Just delete the MP3DirectCut folder and you're done.

    There's nothing there, the installer is a self extracting zip http://mpesch3.de1.cc/mp3dc.html#dwn

    mp3DirectCut seems incapable of specifiying the order of the files before joining them in one file through the above item: Is there a way to do this, without first renaming the files so their name sorts alphabetically and have mp3DC join them in the right order?

    Don't think so, you will have to number the files first to join them in the order you want.
    If its more that 10 files you will have to renumber them 01, 02, 03 etc to join them in the correct order.
    There's also a limit on the number of files you can join at one time. I think its 50.

    Thanks for the confirmation.

    Is there another free Windows application that can 1) join MP3 files in a user-specified order and 2) without re-enconding them?

    They are not Windows but they are free, and FFMpeg 'Concat' or the CMD 'copy /b' works with almost all files unless you are looking to handle such items as multiple streams, subtitles, etc.

    In the case of MP3, Potplayer will play either way but Media Player like the copy / b method, has triple the size and duration.

    Thanks. I wanted to avoid ffmpeg and "copy /b" because of the typing involved. I was looking for a GUI application that lets users drag and drop files, possibly modifying the order, and join the files without reencoding them.

    You can drag files higher or lower in the Batch Processing window in Mp3DirectCut, then join them together.
