  1. I've recently found out my TV can play video via a USB harddrive. The problem is, most of my videos are encoded in a way unsuitable for it to play. There are three main problems I have:

    1. My TV cannot play x264 at 10 bit, only 8 bit
    2. My TV cannot play AAC but it can play AC3 audio
    3. My TV cannot display the subtitles embedded in the video files (will need some hardcoding)

It is unfortunate that almost everything I want to watch on my TV falls under these problems.
So, i'm completely inexperienced in dealing with these, so I was hoping you guys could help me out in converting all of my mkv files. I'm aware I can't do these without losing some quality, but I'm perfectly fine with that, however, I'm looking for a method that causes the least loss.

    Thanks!

    Search Comp PM
Freemake Video Converter. It can hardcode subs.

Or convert to avi xvid and use external subtitles(srt).

Or the best method, get a new media center device with mkv support, see http://www.iboum.com/net-media-players.php .
