  1. What's a good program to clean up the noise from older video such as Hi8 recordings? I've got Premiere Pro 2.0 and Avid Xpress Pro HD 4.2.2.

    Thanks!

People rave about the noise filter for vdub but I find these to slightly blur the image.
I have not had to use any filters on my hi8 stuff.

You can use V/Dub filters in Prem Pro (see debugmode), or V/Dub itself, but best qual I think might be Avisynth, though you'd want to tweak the settings on a short test file I imagine. Recomend those two because you'll rarely see Hi-8 at the pro level anymore, so not much demand for noise filtering in Prem or Avid.

You will have a generational loss, because every frame is redrawn and encoded, but generally you can make an overall improvement if you take the time to work with the settings & various filters.
