Yes, they are cheap. But 9 out of 10 of them can't shoot worth squat -- despite their schooling. Ask for a demo reel of their work, if you can.
I speak from vast experience. -
well, my german's not to hot for one
I figured students would be pretty bad, too
I guess a tripod is out of the question...
just brainstorming since travel is so expensive these days...
looking for someone to cover some international festivals for me
all I'm seeing on search is pro wedding videographers, a few schools and clubs...I'll keep trying
there used to be a thing called "courier" where you jumped on the jet, flew to the destination, and flew back the same day all for cheap... -
Craigslist in USA. Contact local schools, too.

I see Craigslist is International now...I think this is my best option
This way, I can casually request interested parties and if they don't respond, no biggie.
Who wants to write to students all day?
I believe flimboss when he says they blow...
Thanks all -
Search the stock footage sites. Also consider wedding videographers if the event is not on a weekend. Many of them are looking for non-wedding projects to add to their portfolios -- and sometimes they will do the job cheap. Most have more experience (and better equipment) than students.
With the global economy as it is, experienced freelance videographers may not be as expensive as you may expect. -
unfortunately, most of the festivals are on the weekend...
those stock footage sites are getting a lot better...some even have free stuff...I'm looking for free HDV to incorporate...
thx -
hey...craigslist worked!
I've got a shooter set up for Christchurch already
they're PAL so tapes won't play in my NTSC cam
so I'm having him upload the raw HDV footage to vimeo or somesuch
ha ha!
