    hello there

i know this question has been asked for a million times already but i searched and couldn't find a thread that really helps

after installing windows home server on my main pc

i am now placing all of my video library in it

it contains avi, mkv, mpg and many other formats for alot of HQ/HD home movies and some music videos

now i want to convert my whole library into an xbox or mce friendly format

but i want to do it without loosing the quality of the video or audio

is there a program that can do that for me ? and if it has a batch conversion option or the option that delete the source after it will be even more great

i am willing to buy the software

    regards
    ahmed

use wmv if you want 100% xbox 360/mce compatibility.

Edit - payware like corel dvd copy 6 is very user friendly. Of course you have to have the dvds decrypted prior to ripping. But it can do it off the harddrive if ripped first.

There are others out there of course. Check out the tools section.

edit2 - you will lose some quality on any conversion. How much depends on the end bitrate you use and the desired file size. To some the loss will be neglible. To others it will look horrible compared to the orginal.

Another option is streaming to the xbox 360 with something like tversity. Then it does the transcoding for you leaving your orginal files intact.

Like I said corel dvd copy 6 is very good but it is payware.

There are plenty of other options too.
