  1. Hi - I've not encountered this before, a vid that plays fine in my 2 players (WMP and PotPlayer) but not with Avidemux (both the portable and the installed copies I have). The audio is garbled junk and there's very slight distortion of the picture. As a possible fix, I installed Shark007 but that changed nothing. Loading the vid to Boilsoft Splitter gives a message 'seems the avi codec your file is using is not installed properly'. I'd really like to get this vid edited (with Avidemux) so if anyone can suggest what the problem/cure is I'd be very grateful. Here's Mediainfo:

  2. my guess would be this:

    Format settings, Matrix : Custom

    Width : 640 pixels
    Height : 480 pixels
    Display aspect ratio : 4:3

    Writing library : XviD 1.2.0.dev47 (UTC 2006-11-01)
    what created it?

    When you load file, is Avidemux alerting you that it is 'building time map' and 'unpacking bit stream' prior to seeing video in Avidemux?

    try this,,
    Menu Items-> Edit->Preferences

    Display(tab)
    Video Display: Default Raster (select)

    Enable openGL support (check box)

    Threading(tab)
    Prioritisation--> Playback priority: select 'HIGH'

    Check info ((i) button) to ensure it matches MediaInfo output

  3. Hello Atticus Draco. I'll never know who created this vid but you're correct in that Avidemux builds time map and unpacks. My settings were as you suggest bar the 'openGL' but, unfortunately, that had no effect. A pity but many thanks for your time.
