  1. hello.. i am using 2 days now the handbrake(last rev 64 bit) but i don't understand this http://prntscr.com/687dif
    says for hd quality need to be 20-23 but is wrong if i put 23 the video is bad no hd and smaller size but if is16-18 the video is the same from original..
    so what is the problem??

  2. What is the problem ? If 23 produces too small, too low quality, and 16 is too large, pick something in between like 19-21

  3. Generally, with SD video you need to use a lower RF value (higher quality) because the image is enlarged when you play it back full screen (making any defects more obvious). Hence their recommendation of lower RF values for SD material.

    Some shots require a lower RF value to prevent posterization -- most notably dark noisy shots. Other ways to prevent that is to increase aq-strenth or qcomp. But both will result in higher bitrates. So it's not so different than just using a lower RF.
