    Is there a way to make a dvdr to 720p mkv file? If so how, and what do i need to do this?



    sorry about posting in wrong group didnt see the dvdr to mkv and such at first

    Easier to just ask for this to be moved.

    Bottom line is that you can, however the upscaling to 720p resolution will either look awful, or take a very long time. To get a half decent upscale requires a motion compensation based resizer like VideoEnhancer or MVTools in avisynth. These are very computationally intensive, and therefore slow, processes. Be prepared to lose 8 - 11 hours upscaling each disc. And you will not get HD quality from your SD source, no matter what you do. Honestly - the hardware based upscaler in the TV will do as good a job, if not better, on the fly.
