Installed Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2952664). Now VLC and BS Player will not play audio in Anything recently downloaded from Youtube.com Uninstalled both, rebooted, re-installed, rebooted, checked for updates, rebooted and still nothing. Checked both forums (VLC & BS Player) for each program and similar topics dated back to 2008 but nothing applicable since 2012 and those were with different versions. Sound plays in other movies for both pieces of software and youtube.com plays fine in my browsers (Firefox & Chrome Dragon). BUT when I try to open a video (mp4) recently downloaded from Youtube.com, my browsers report that the file is corrupted. Earlier videos (mp4) downloaded last year play fine in both programs and in both browsers. Any input would be welcomed and thank you in advance...

I had a similar problem with some youtube videos, although I only grabbed the audio using the keepvid site. When I tried to play the file with MPC-HC I also got a corrupt file error. Remuxing with mp4box took care of the problem. I had assumed it was a problem with keepvid but perhaps youtube is doing something wonky with the files.

Anyone tried aTubeCatcher to store the videos?
That's what's always worked for me. Be a shame if it suddenly stopped working. -
The video file you trying to play don't have Audio track according to mediainfo
Simple download again with Freemake Video Downloader -
Ditto the above. But this is musak so there should be audio.
We had better get the actual yt link -
This the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FQLGhPHzxjc
also after download file size is 75 mb and his file size is 70 mb -
I grabbed the 360p version with TubeDigger. Sound there as well.

Some videos at Youtube now stream as two files. One for the video. Another for the audio. You need to use a downloader that handles that. This add-on for Firefox will automatically download both streams and mux them together:
http://www.cys-audiovideodownloader.com/
As noted, it requires ffmpeg to do the muxing.
