I thought DVDs use MP3 for audio and VCDs use MP2. Why is SVCD2DVD converting perfectly good MP3 audio over to MP2 to make a DVD? And then, why the failure?

European DVD Video, support MP2 (musicam) for audio.
American DVDs use AC3 for audio (not mp3) -

Appears to be an error with the audio file. Does the file "mlandsS01E01_S2DPAL.mp2" exist? Can you play it (should play in WMP, at least it will on my PC)?

No, I have the program set to remove the temp files at completion and so the .mp2 disappeared. I'm in the middle of doing another convert but this time resulting in a AC3 audio track rather than MPEG. We'll see how it goes. If it works then I'll give MP2 a try again just for the heck of it.
For what it is worth, the source .AVI had no problem with audio. -
Update: Must have been a one-time glitch. AC3 worked fine and the second try with MP2 also worked ok.
-
ok i have a similar prob in that it wont recognise the mp2 files.
and because of this it then deletes all the converted files. and quits with an error.
Just trying to check with previous versions.. -
ok. For now i would recommend choosing AC3 in the Audio Encoding settings. I will fix this in the next release.

I want to correct what I wrote above. It turns out that my second attempt at doing the convert to MP2 wasn't for MP2 after all. I had thought I switched it back to MP2 from AC3 but the setting change must not have stuck. I actually did the convert as AC3 again and didn't realize it. I just did a MP2 convert (double checked this time) and it failed again.
That's alright because I learned something by the experience in that since I'm in North America I probably should have been using AC3 all the time anyway. -
Can you try build Build 2.5.2728 (from the website)? It should resolve this issue for you?
