Ok Im burning a disc and the nero goes to the following message when trying to burn

''dvd-video files compliance test failed . the resulting dvd video might be unplayable?''

well I tryed it anyways , an the dvd will play on my PC thru the normal media players etc,

but my home dvd player wont mess w/ it.

The caption in my nero box says ,,

Back up video file VTS_01_0.BUP SHOULD BE IDENTICAL TO VTS_01_0.IFO
VTS_02_0.BUP should be identical to VTS_02_0.ifo

    and so on for Vts_ 03 , 04 , 05 , 06

well i looked and they seem to be identical , as in size anyways
only diff is the icons next to em ,
which I think thats supposed to that way
cause one is a BUP , an one is an IFO, Correct?

Now I had this happen once before with a diff disc , an I just said forget it an gave up.
    not this time

Is there a certin setting I should make for this,
cause any other time Ibe backed up files,
I just drag an drop no problem!!

but this one i didnt back up , i downloaded this one so this is how it is
    and I cant just retry.

the file came in a winrar pack , an I extracted it thissa way
so if something is wrong i didnt do it.

Any one got some input , let me know - thanks!

BTw , I read the ''how to burn dvd-video with Nero'' before I posted this but saw nothing about compliance issues!

I am not shure about it but I had same problem before. It hapened when I created discs using Convert2dvd (I did use PAL material to create NTSC disc). I belive that program does not
convert from pal to ntsc just try to cheat and "tell" dvd player that disc is ntsc
Some players will play those discs and some nor

    BRYAN_B28,

If that's the only problem, you can make copies of the IFO files, and change the file extensions on the copies from IFO to BUP.

    BRYAN_B28,

    Quick tutorial follows:

Open Windows Explorer and go to the directory that contains the dvd files
Select all the IFO files, right click, then left click on Copy
Go to an empty directory (make one if you have to)
Right click, then Paste into the directory
Rename each IFO file to BUP (for example: VTS_01_0.IFO becomes VTS_01_0.BUP)
Make sure the renamed files are all capitals
Select all the renamed files, right click, then left click on Copy
Go back to the original dvd directory
Right click, then Paste into the directory
When it says "Do you want to overwrite" say "Yes to All"

That's it. You now know for absolute certain that all the BUP files are exactly the same as the IFO files.

If you get the same error message, or a different one, post back with what the error was.

ok Im having a prob rename'n em,,

    i can rename em .BUP
    but there still .IFO

    IT JSUT LOOKS LIKE

    VTS_01_0.BUP.IFO

I know that sounds crazy but I understand what your saying cause most of the time you change the file w/ a rename you change the file ,, like changing something to .jpeg
then it becomes a jpeg ,

but the BUP an IFO has 2 different Icons.
so the IFo dont change to BUP it just adds that to the suffix or whatever but it dont change nor the icon.

Cause really the file dont even say .IFo
it does if you look at thru like nero or something, wen it shown there is the only time I even see .IFO
I even changed my folder setting to details an it dont change

This sounds wack ,I know but its true its true

Uncheck "Hide extension of known file types" in menu Tools -> Folder options, Display tab (?) from any explorer (not IE) window. One of the most stupid MS defaults ever.

    BRYAN_B28,

Unfortunately, that error could mean anything. We need to see specifically what is nero-non-compliant about this project. If you have to let it burn to get the full description of the error (like in your first post), you might want to get a dvd-rw disk so you don't have to make coasters just to find out what's wrong.

I solved the problem using FixVTS.
